Summer vacation is getting closer and closer! Until then, kids can dream of summer days ahead as they play outside at recess. Check out this week's #ThrowbackThursday photo of the Elkmont School's play area, with plenty of room for its pupils to run and play, circa 1915. It's been almost a year since our pollinator gardens at Sugarlands Visitor Center were dedicated! This collaborative project between the park, @Discovrlife, & @GSMAssoc has restored native plants to the flower beds in front of Sugarlands, providing plenty of fuel for pollinators.

Happy Mother’s Day! A big thank you for all the hardworking mothers out there, just like this elk and her calf! Elk calves are born around late May, so if you want to see an excellent example of motherhood in nature, be on the lookout for this loving scene! Photo by Chalice Keith
