The scenic north rim of Halali'i is a popular destination for ambitious hikers in the summit district of Haleakalā National Park. Be aware, getting here requires a minimum of 11.5 miles of hiking! You must bring at least three liters of water per person, rain gear, sun screen, and plenty of snacks! Furthermore, the colorful rocky feature itself is very fragile and home to a variety of rare and endangered species. You must stay on trail everywhere inside of our wilderness area, especially at ecologically delicate areas such as this.

We were able to rent two of the cabins last year, and hiked into the rainforest and out. It was surreal, and an experience I will never forget, and I would absolutely love to do it again.

I've had the pleasure of tent camping and cabin camping in Haleakala in the mid 90s. Hiking Silver Sword trail and the multicolored cinder cones was as close to Mars as this Martin will ever get. Maui no ka oi!
If you enjoy hiking in high-altitude it might be good for you over 10,000 feet.
